Development of cold resistant and flame retardant PC/ABS alloy

PC/ABS alloy for smart electric meter housing was prepared by melting blending of polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile-butadiene-butadiene prepolymer (ABS), low temperature toughening agent and flame retardant by a double single screw extruder. The damage of the types and dosage of low temperature toughening agent and flame retardant to the structure and properties of PC/ABS alloy base material was studied. The results show that the "core-shell" toughening agent with independent design scheme can greatly improve the low temperature resistance of PC/ABS alloy, and the energy-saving nitrate flame retardant has a good effect on the low temperature resistance of PC/ABS alloy, and improves the properties and composition of the best PC/ABS alloy for smart meter housing.
